The Try PT
First! Campaign is a grassroots effort
of Private Practice Owners, staff PTs
and marketing people with the goal to
promote Physical Therapy.
Research done during
the last year found that many referral
sources, such as doctors but even potential
patients did not know or had misunderstandings
related to what Physical Therapy really
was or does. This campaign is aimed at
educating the various publics on WHY Physical
Therapy should be the first choice for
both patients and referral sources, before
drugs, surgery or "going on hoping".
In early 2004, Survival
Strategies was approached
by some of its Private Practice PT owners
and was asked to help finding solutions
to promote Physical Therapy.
With years of experience
in the field of PR (Public Relations)
and Marketing as well as a deep understanding
of what Physical Therapy is all about
(hundreds of successful Private Practice
PT owners have done their programs), Survival
Strategies decided to throw its full support
behind them, assisting in producing state-of-the-art
PR materials for use in getting the message
out.
Survival Strategies
does not profit directly from this campaign
and had invested a considerable amount
of time and money to research and produce
materials. It is a way to say "Thank
You" to an industry, which has been
at the core of its business since 1985.They
recognize that if the industry is doing
well, in the end, it will also help their
business.
In order to produce
the materials, Survival Strategies hired
Media
City Marketing Group and
paid for the expenses of doing the research, creating the campaign and producing the
materials.
The "Dream Team"
runs the campaign. The Dream Team is a
growing network, with well over 100 participants
and growing every day. It is composed
of practice owners like myself and their
staff across the country, who've come
together as a grass roots cooperative
effort for their mutual benefit and to
elevate the image of private practice
hands-on PT as a brand.
How does
the Try PT First Campaign work?
In virtually every region
across the country, practice owners are
hosting "rallies" to which they
are inviting private practice colleagues.
In approximately 2 to 3 hours the participants
at each rally will be given all of the
tools (PowerPoint presentation, manual,
hand-outs, etc.) that they need to conduct
educational seminars in their areas with
potential and current referral sources.
Typically, once referral sources are properly
educated, they not only refer more appropriately,
but they put themselves and their own
problems in our capable hands.
Medical and specialist
students, residents, physician groups,
Podiatrists, and many others are wide
open to learn what good PT really is.
The PowerPoint presentation and materials
you are given are the result of real-world
experience among our members in doing
similar seminars in their own areas.
In this state-of-the-art
presentation, you will learn, "Who,
What, When, Where, and (Most Importantly)
Why to Refer for PT First". All materials
and tools you need to promote the program
and to deliver it are included in the
rally kit.
How Much Does
This Cost?
The cost to attend a
rally is $95.00. This basically covers
the cost of the materials.
Each attendee receives:
- A professional full
color CD PowerPoint Presentation: WHO,
WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, HOW and (most importantly)
WHY to Refer to PT First!
- A comprehensive seminar
manual.
- Rally training materials
for attendees.
- Hand-outs for your
own presentations to referral sources.
- A free subscription
to Private Practice Success Magazine.
- Up to one hour free
PR and Marketing Analysis
- Participation
in monthly national Try PT First Phone
Networking sessions.
Why Are You
Doing This?
On occasion we were
asked, "Why are you doing this?"
Given the scope of the program and the
ridiculously low cost (which basically
covers the price of the materials), a
few suspected a hidden agenda.
Well, here's the agenda
and it's not hidden. The Dream Team members
are simply not going to tolerate the status
quo any longer. They know that PTs are
the experts in human function. They know
that PTs have the absolute best motivation
and product on the market. But as a profession
the fact that we are "private"
practice owners has cut us off from the
power that a coordinated group can generate.
What we need to get our message across
is a well-coordinated and mobilized effort.
If we can spread the word of what we do
across the country, we will all win.
